George Edward "Buck" Rose, 83, of Roanoke Rapids died Tuesday, September 21, 2010, at Nash General Hospital in Rocky Mount.

"Buck", a native of Halifax County, was the son of the late Cal Meas and Florence Jenkins Rose. He was a veteran of the United States Navy.

He was the owner-operator of Rapid Dry Cleaners in Roanoke Rapids for 30 years. He was a member of Rosemary United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Beulah Ogburn Rose; his daughter, Connie Rose Mullins and her husband, Jeff, of Zebulon; his sister-in-law, Millie Ogburn of Roanoke Rapids; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 23, 2010 at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids with Rev. Jim Bell officiating.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 22, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Askew Funeral & Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids, which is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Rosemary United Methodist Church, 900 Jackson St., Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870.

The flag in front of the funeral home flies at half-staff in honor of Mr. Rose’s service to his country.
